Product Description

Set of two antique butter molds c.1860s. This lovely set was used to create either individual pats of butter or a large pat of butter meant to share at a dinner table. After the butter was churned it would be packed into the molds and the hand carved details would be impressed into the butter; making for a lovely presentation. Both molds are made of heavy/solid wood and since they were hand carved we consider them pieces of folk art. While they certainly could be used we would probably display them in an antique bowl or hang them in a farmhouse style kitchen. We would consider both in good condition with just minor wear/marks to the wood. The wear is consistent with an item of this age and use. Please review the photographs to see the condition details up close. You may mouse over or click on any photograph to enlarge.

4 small rectangle block mold: 8.5" long x 2" wide x .75" deep
