Product Description

WWI Infantry soldier photograph on a large metal plate.  It is hand tinted and in fairly good condition with signs of wear and age. The eagle, shield and three American flags represent the branches of the military in existence at the time this infantry soldier was in the military (1914-1918).  The Army, Navy and Marines were all established in the 1700s.  The Air Force was established as it's own branch of service in 1947.  While the Coast Guard was established in 1790 it was considered as part of the Revenue Cutter Service and not considered it's own branch of the military and generally operated at part of the Department of the Navy.  Please mouse over the product photographs to see the condition details up close.  Measures approximately 7"1/2 in diameter.
